New Years Intentions
This :shit: year is thankfully coming to a close. I suspect I may be celebrating prematurely [1], but nevertheless I’m excited to kick off another year of research and personal growth. With that in mind, below are a few jumbled New Year’s “Intentions”. I’m altering the phrasing on advice from a friend, to better emphasize that I’ll probably make only some effort on these not feel too bad about eventually stopping :^)
- Actually learn another language aside from Python/Matlab. I’d ideally like to learn something low-level and painful like C++.
- Learn enough Spanish that I can understand ~70% of casual conversations.
- Blog more! My average until now was 0 posts/year so that should be doable.
- Get better at HTML/CSS and maybe figure out how exactly this template I’m using works. E.g. figure out how to stop this exact page from crashing when I modify Years –> Year’s (Year\’s does not do the trick :triumph:).
- Finally get back to the gym (Pfizer-willing). Lifting heavy things and having a routine was very helpful for organizing my day + keeping me productive.
- Embrace random side projects. I’ve been too focused on one or two main projects, which is great for productivity when those things are going well, but causes slowdown when hitting bumps (parallelizing gives some insurance against catastrophic project failures).
- Make up for lost time and travel more (conferences, vacation, seeing friends + family).
